P4 Project

Manhours: TBD
Project Value: $1,800,000

Project Scope

UST was tasked with the installation of a brand new automated fire water pump and all associated piping. This system and new pump aid in fire protection support in the event of a fire at any of the tanks located within the refinery. UST prefabricated and installed several hundred feet of cement lined and HDPE piping both above and underground. Piping tied into the tank farm fire water/fire protection system.

Project Challenges

Fire water system is under constant pressure, therefore the window to shut down the system in order to tie in new piping was very small. Tie ins had to be done quickly and correctly as there was no room for error. Per state regulations, the piping had to meet certain elevation requirements in order to remain within code.
